Where is drop-off and pick-up?
Drop-off and pick-up are at the same location, located at the parking lot of the Redwood Staging Area. We will meet where the parking lot and trail-head meet.

Is food provided?
Wholesome and organic snacks will be provided daily. Snacks will include homemade gluten-free bread, a spread and fresh seasonal fruit.

What does my child wear?
There is no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing! For autumn, appropriate clothing can include the following:
                   - Comfortable pants (leggings or jeans)
                   - Long sleeved t-shirt
                   - Cotton sweatshirt or hoodie / lightweight jacket
                   - Socks
                   - Rain boots or sturdy closed-toe shoes that can get wet and muddy
                   - Knit hat (optional)

Does my child need to be toilet trained to join Outside Learning?
Given the nature of the program, children must be toilet trained. This means they know when they need to go to the bathroom, can communicate that and don't need assistance.

Where will my child go to the bathroom?
There is a structure with bathrooms and a sink for hand washing. at the Redwood Bowl picnic area. This area is also our "home base," so we will be close to bathrooms throughout the day. If a child needs to go pee, they can also "Wild Pee" in a designated spot away from our outdoor classroom area and will be taught how to go pee outdoors. Biodegradable soap and water for hand washing will always be used after a "Wild Pee." If there's a potty accident, the extra clothes in your child's backpack will be used.

What does my child bring?
Your child should bring a small backpack with:
                        - One set of extra clothes  in a Ziploc bag (shirt, pants, underwear, socks)
                        - Filled water bottle
                        - Lunch
                        - Sunscreen (weather permitting)

Please don't bring:
                        - Toys
                        - Books (I'll bring those!)
                        - Extra shoes
                        - Candy

What if it's raining?
Rain or shine, we will still meet in the forest! Rainy days bring lots of new adventures for us. Together with the children, we will fasten a tarp to serve as our shelter from the rain. From puddle jumping to salamander searching, rain is a fun and safe time as long as proper clothes are worn. Wearing the right clothes on rainy days will ensure that your child will have a good day. Make sure your child has a rain jacket, rain boots, layers, a knit hat and  gloves to keep warm.

How many children are in each class?
Each class can take up to  5 children.

What if my child is sick?
If your child is showing signs of being sick, then please keep your child at home so they can get healthy. Contact me and let me know your child will not be joining us  outside ASAP. Once your child is well again, we can find another class for your child to attend to "make-up" for the class they missed.  A "make-up" class" will be available, but refunds will not be given.
